Leak-rate thresholds, repair deadlines, extensions and records.
The question
Repairing a leak on a 700-pound R-22 industrial process system requires shutting down the process it serves. How long does the owner have to complete the repair?
- 30 days
- 180 days
- 120 daysCorrect answer
- 270 days
Why “120 days” is correct
Where an industrial process shutdown is required, a 120-day repair period replaces the normal 30 days. Extensions beyond that are possible only under specific conditions such as unavailable parts.

Why the other answers are wrong
- 30 days — 30 days is the normal repair period when no process shutdown is needed.
- 180 days — 180 days is the outer limit of the parts extension when no shutdown is needed.
- 270 days — 270 days is the outer limit of the parts extension when a shutdown is needed.
