Privacy policy

Nothing you type in. There is no sign-up and no login, and the site never asks for your name, email address, employer or certification number. Your answers to practice questions are not sent to us.

We use Google Analytics 4 to learn how the site is used. It records which pages are visited, how many practice tests are started and finished, roughly where visitors are (country or region), and what kind of device and browser they use. That tells us which pages are confusing or broken and what to improve.

Google Analytics sets cookies so it can tell a returning visit from a new one. Google Signals may be on, which lets Google link visits with signed-in Google accounts for aggregated reports such as demographics. We never send your answers or anything you type. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.

To opt out, block analytics with a browser setting or extension, or install Google's opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.

The site is free, and it may show ads from Google or other advertising networks to pay for itself. Ad networks use cookies and similar technology to show ads, measure them, and, where allowed, personalize them based on your visits to this and other sites. They handle that data under their own privacy policies. You can control personalized Google ads at Google's ad settings, and other networks at optout.aboutads.info.

Where the law requires consent first, as in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you will be asked before advertising cookies are set.

So you can pick up where you left off, the site saves a few things in your browser's own storage (localStorage) on the device you are using:

• answers and progress on practice tests, and your last results;
• settings, such as light or dark mode.

This never leaves the device. We cannot see it. Anyone using the same browser profile can. To delete it, clear this site's data in your browser settings, or use a private window, which keeps nothing after it closes.

The site is a set of static pages served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and to keep the service running. We do not use them to identify visitors.

The site is meant for adults working in or training for the HVAC and refrigeration trade. If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
