EPA 608 Practice Test PDF With Answers

Every practice section on this site has a printable version with the answer key at the end, so you can save it as a PDF and study on paper or offline. Here is what is included, how to save it, and how to get the most from printed practice.

What you can print

There is a printable version of each section of the EPA 608 exam: Core, Type I, Type II and Type III. Each one lists the questions with their answer choices, followed by an answer key at the end. That keeps the answers out of sight while you work.

For Universal practice, print all four sections. Together they cover the same ground as the 100-question Universal exam: 25 Core questions and 25 for each type on the real test.

How to save it as a PDF

Open the printable version of the section you want, then use your browser's print command.

  • On a computer, press Ctrl+P (Windows) or Cmd+P (Mac).
  • Under Destination or Printer, choose 'Save as PDF' (or 'Microsoft Print to PDF' on some Windows setups).
  • Save the file, or send it straight to a printer if you want paper.
  • On a phone, use the browser's Share or Print option. Most phones can save the print preview as a PDF.

How to use printed practice

Paper practice works best when you treat it like the real test. Fold back or cover the answer key, work through a section without notes, and give yourself a time limit. Mark any question you were unsure of, even if you got it right.

Then check your answers and count your score for each section. You need 70 percent per section on the real closed-book test, which is 18 of 25. Aim higher than that in practice. For every miss or guess, go back to the topic and the rule behind it, not just the letter of the right answer. The EPA 608 study guide on this site groups the topics the same way the test does.

Come back to the same sheet a few days later and redo only the questions you marked. If you still miss them, that topic needs more time.

Pair it with a sheet of key numbers

Much of the 608 exam rests on a short list of numbers. Write them on one page as you go and keep it with your printed tests: the 5-pound small appliance limit, the 80 and 90 percent small-appliance recovery levels, the Table 1 evacuation levels, the 15-pound limit for system-dependent recovery, the 50-pound leak repair threshold, the 20/30/10 percent leak rates and the 80 percent cylinder fill limit.

Before each practice session, try to rewrite the sheet from memory. When you can do that and score well above 70 percent on every section, you are close to ready.

About the questions

These are original practice questions written from EPA's published test topics and from the regulation, 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F. They are not the real exam questions. EPA releases its question bank only to approved certifying programs (40 CFR 82.161(c)). Use them to learn the rules and numbers the topics cover, not to memorize particular wording.

The same free practice tests are also available online: Core, Type I, II, III and a 100-question Universal mock.
