The question
Which test formats may a certifying program use when it offers only Type I certification?
- An on-site test or a mail-in testCorrect answer
- Only an online test with a webcam proctor
- Only a closed-book test at a proctored site
- Only a hands-on recovery demonstration
Why “An on-site test or a mail-in test” is correct
Appendix D lets organizations that provide Type I certification only choose either an on-site format or a mail-in format similar to the MVAC program. Type II, Type III and Universal must be closed-book and proctored.
Source: 40 CFR Part 82 Subpart F, Appendix D
Why the other answers are wrong
- Only an online test with a webcam proctor — Appendix D describes on-site and mail-in options for Type I-only programs.
- Only a closed-book test at a proctored site — Type I-only programs may also use a mail-in format.
- Only a hands-on recovery demonstration — Certification is by written test; no hands-on exam is listed.
