Which certification covers all of them?
Section 608 regulations · EPA 608 Core. The correct answer, and the reasoning behind it.
Pressure classes, recovery equipment certification, AHRI 700, the sales restriction and the venting ban.
The question
A technician wants to service small appliances, high-pressure systems and low-pressure chillers. Which certification covers all of them?
- Type II
- Type III
- UniversalCorrect answer
- Core only
Why “Universal” is correct

Source: 40 CFR 82.161(a)(1); 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F, Appendix D
Why the other answers are wrong
- Type II — Type II does not cover small appliances or low-pressure chillers.
- Type III — Type III covers only low-pressure appliances.
- Core only — Core alone does not certify a technician for any equipment.
