The question

How often must a Section 608 certification be renewed?

  • Every two years with a retest
  • Every five years with a retest
  • Every ten years with a retest
  • It does not expireCorrect answer

Why “It does not expire” is correct

Section 608 technician certification does not expire. EPA reserves the right to require recertification in the future by notice in the Federal Register (40 CFR 82.161(a)(5)), but no such requirement exists now.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • Every two years with a retest — There is no two-year renewal cycle.
  • Every five years with a retest — There is no five-year renewal cycle.
  • Every ten years with a retest — There is no ten-year renewal cycle.
