A technician takes the Universal test in one sitting. How many questions does it contain?
- 75: 25 each for Types I, II and III, with no Core
- 50: 25 Core and 25 mixed technical
- 125: 50 Core and 25 for each type
- 100: 25 Core and 25 each for Types I, II and IIICorrect answer
Why “100: 25 Core and 25 each for Types I, II and III” is correct
Appendix D says Universal tests include 100 questions: 25 from Group I and 25 from each of the three sector-specific areas. A Universal certification may also be built from passing scores on separate tests.
Source: 40 CFR Part 82 Subpart F, Appendix D
Why the other answers are wrong
- 75: 25 each for Types I, II and III, with no Core — The Universal test also includes 25 Core questions.
- 50: 25 Core and 25 mixed technical — Each of the three types gets its own 25 questions.
- 125: 50 Core and 25 for each type — Core is 25 questions, not 50.
