What must that statement include?
Recovery requirements · EPA 608 Type I. The correct answer, and the reasoning behind it.
The small-appliance definition and the recovery levels required.
The question
A scrap recycler accepts a window air conditioner with a signed statement saying the refrigerant was already recovered. What must that statement include?
- The recovery machine serial number and the weight recovered
- Who recovered the refrigerant, their address, and the dateCorrect answer
- The recovering person's certification number and the refrigerant type
- The appliance owner's name and the unit's model number
Why “Who recovered the refrigerant, their address, and the date” is correct
Section 82.155(b)(2) says a signed statement must include the name and address of the person who recovered the refrigerant and the date it was recovered. That lets EPA trace who did the recovery and when.

Why the other answers are wrong
- The recovery machine serial number and the weight recovered — The rule does not require machine serial numbers or weights on the statement.
- The recovering person's certification number and the refrigerant type — Disposal recovery does not require certification, so no certification number is called for.
- The appliance owner's name and the unit's model number — Owner and model details are not the items the rule lists.
